Our client wanted to build two high-end villa buildings on the land they owned in such a way
that the individual homes could function without disturbing each other providing adequate
intimacy. For both buildings, direct access to the garden was important. The bedrooms are
found on the first floor as well as a “parents” apartment requested by the client, with a
separate walk-in closet and bathroom. The ground floor and the first floor of the building are
thus functionally separated, which is visually accentuated by the large wood textured HPL
panel cladding of the upper section. For both buildings two important character-shaping
elements are the terrace spaces created under the building cantilevers and the "V"-shaped pillar structures.
Due to the shared plot, the entrance to building “B” can be reached from behind the building.
With the house having its back to the driveway, it is neatly screened off, providing the
necessary privacy both inside the house and in the garden. The upper floor cantilevers out
from the building as it is rotated away from the ground floor mass marking the entrance
underneath.
The focal point of the building is the kitchen, around which the living space is organised. An
essential part of the living space is the large, covered terrace created by the rotation of the
upper floor.
The building has a uniform, white plastered appearance divided by a dark groove above the
doors. Different grain sizes of plaster have been used above and below the grooves, allowing
sunlight at the right angle to give the facades an extra visual effect.
